Portsmouth,Hampshire Wednesday 16th August 2017 HMS Queen Elizabeth arriving at her home dock in Portsmouth with onlookers catching a glimpse of the Royal Navy's £3billion flagship aircraft carrier as it passes along into Portsmouth Harbour. Many people took up there spots from the early hours of the morning to be part of the History in the making. The entry of the Ship was accompanied by a flypast of Fleet Air Arm Merlin and Wildcat helicopters, plus Hawk jets of 736 NAS from Culdrose. Six tugs escorted the ship into harbour to assist and manoeuvre the ship on to her berth in the naval base. Once the ship passes Outer Spit Buoy they are committed to entering harbour. Britain's newest aircraft carrier arrived just after in her home dock after completing the latest round of sea trials. She arrived a day earlier than previously expected, after weather conditions had formerly prevented the exact date from being set. The 65,000-tonne carrier, the largest warship ever to be built in Britain, is expected to be the Navy's flagship craft for at least 50 years.©UKNIP
