In nearly all of these localities the most successful growers produce, by careful selection, stock seed, which always commands a price much above that of any other. Mills1 Extra Selected Early Yellow Globe Danvers, which has been selected with great care, is the finest strain of Danvers Onion ever offered. It is not only of the most handsome shape and fine quality, but it ripens early, the entire crop drying out at one time, and it gives immense yields, and as high as 800 bushels has been produced on an acre under favorable circumstances. They grow uniform (see cut), of large size, small necks, and are certainly the handsomest yellow onion grown, and commands the highest price in market, Color is clear, straw yellow, and is a splendid keeper. Any onion grower or market gardener, or, in fact, any person who has a garden and grows a few onions, cannot afford to plant inferior seed when such a fine strain as this can be bad. The results of a few ounces often pays more than twice the first cost of other seed. I have a fine stock of this variety, and would advise onion growers to plant it, although the price is a little higher than ordinary Yellow Globe Danvers.
