The Royal Danish Opera House on Holmen, Copenhagen inner harbour, Denmark. Modern architecture by Henning Larsen. A gift from Maersk Mc-Kinney Møller

The new Copenhagen Opera House (inaugurated January 2005) on the waterfront in Copenhagen inner harbour is the national opera of Denmark and one of the most modern opera houses in the world - and the most expensive ever built. It is located on the island of Holmen in the centre of Copenhagen just opposite The Amalienborg Palace and close to the Royal Playhouse. The Opera House is designed by the Danish architect Henning Larsen and is a present from Mærsk McKinney Møller.
