Length about 9 j tail 3-6; wing 3'4; tarsus 1-3; bill from gape 1-3. Distribution. The National, Collection contains a large series collected by Hume in Manipur and another by Cockburn at Shil- long. The only other example is a bird which Sharpe assures us is Jerdon's type from Dibrugarh in Assam. This species has been obtained by Godwin-Austen in the Barail range and in the !Naga hills. 131.
