Gastrotrich. This is a ciliated worm-like animal found in fresh water. The rows of hairs (cilia) along its body are used for propulsion, while those near its head end (left) are used to sweep food particles into its mouth. It feeds on bacteria, algae and protozoa. This animal was collected from the River Teifi, Wales, UK.
