Spring lambs should be weaned only in tiie fall, so the dams may have the advantage of grass to recuperate l)efore winter. Lambs, in fact, should do well enough if weaned at three months old, and four months' suckling is ample ; nothing is gained by allowing them to run longer with the dams. When once taken away, they should be placed entirely out of sight and hearing of the dams, and if several are together they will sooner become contented. XIX. Lambing Time. Especial care must be taken of the ewes at and near lambing time.
