This sjilendid variety should be (â¢lanted more extensively as we know of no variety we can recommend more highly for a peach to follow the Klberta. Much confusion exists regarding the various strains of this variety. We are growing the true type as de- termined by comparsions with fruit in U. S. 1). A. test orchards, which is known as the Hale type. GAGE ELBERTA <i:^") A Disease Resistant Bud Sport of The Famous Elberta Peach, Which We Can Recommend Highly. Recommended for resistance to bacterium pru- ni. The tree grows thrifty as the Elberta and looks much like the old time Elberta. Gage El- berta blooms from two to four days after Elberta and apparently has a very strong blossom setting a crop of fruit under unfavorable conditions. The fruit is so near like the Elberta that only an expert can distinguish the difference. It ripens two to three days later than Elberta. This variety is proving well adapted to South- ern conditions in the trial planting at Columbia and Clemson. South Carolina and is to be prefer- red over the Elberta in many respects.
