Antonio Gobio, 17th-century Italian lawyer. The name is in Latin form here (Antonius Gobius), and the circular inscription states that he is in his 38th year in 1673, and is from the city of Mantua (now part of Italy, but at times under Austrian and French rule). At bottom is a camel and the Gobio family's Latin motto 'Dat Labor Annos'. Gobio's works include 'Juris consultationum decisivarum civilium et criminalium' and 'Tractatus de Jure intestatae successiones ad interpretationem Statuti Mantuae sub rubrica de successionibus ab intestato'. This engraving is from Gobio's 'Tractatus varii in quibus universa aquarum materia' (1673).
