During the aural examination it is found that theadherent parts do not change their position after an inflationof air or on testing with the Siegle speculum, while the parts ofthe membrane which are free show a decided mobility. Theborder between the adherent and the non-adherent parts isoften demarcated by a white or gray line, at which the move-ments of the free parts are sharply limited. The adhesive processes produced by middle-ear suppurationsare so variable that the conditions found in one ear seldomcorrespond to those found in another. Considering, however, thepractical significance of this subject, we will briefly detail in the.
