Berlin Wall Memorial and commemorative cross of the Sophien Parish after snow in Winter. Bernauerstrasse, Mitte, Berlin

Germany, Berlin, Bernauer Strasse - The Berlin Wall Memorial extends along both sides of the Bernauer Strasse. On the border strip that had been located in East Berlin, an open-air exhibition uses the Bernauer Strasse area to explain the history of division. The memorial includes the Monument in Memory of the Divided City and the Victims of Communist Tyranny and the Window of Remembrance. The Chapel of Reconciliation is built on the same site as the Reconciliation Church which was destroyed in 1985 on the orders of the government of the GDR - the new Chapel was designed by Architects, Peter Sassenroth and Rudolf Reitermann and the 'Book of Wall Victims' lies on the altar of the chapel.
