In this sketch ithas been thought best to follow the genealogy writ-ten by John L. Reed, published in igoi. (II> William Reed, son of William Rccd (l),wasborn October 15, itijg, at Weymouth, Massachusetts,and died in 170O. He was constable of Weymouth in167s and selectman in 16S1. He was an extensivedealer in land. His will, dated October 26, 1705,was proved September 12, 1706. He lived on Pleas-ant street on the southwesterly side. In 1888 apart of the old house was still standing, having beenremodeled and occupied by Palmer Loud. The olddam which Reed built across the river in 1O80 orbefore 1690 is near the house.
