As a boy, David Lloyd George, scratched his initials into the stone parapet of the bridge at Llanystymdwy.

Earl David Lloyd George of Dwyfor grew up in the village of Llanystymdwy, although he was born in Manchester on 17 January 1863. Aged 12 (or there abouts) he scratched 'DLG' onto the bridge parapet. Someone else added 'MP' later! His childhood home is now a museum. He became a solicitor, MP, President of Board of Trade and Prime Minister. A colourful character, he led an exciting private life. Following his death, his final resting place is in a specially built grave by the banks of the Dwyfor.
