Sweat gland carcinoma, dermoscopy

Dermatoscope image of a sweat gland carcinoma on the thigh of a 72 year old female patient. This is an eccrine porocarcinoma, a rare cancer arising from an eccrine sweat gland that most often occurs in the elderly. It is a slow-growing tumour but can spread (metastasise) to other parts of the body. Treatment is with surgery to remove the tumour and chemotherapy or radiotherapy if the cancer has spread.
