Millennium Dome. Satellite image of the Millennium Dome (white, at centre) and the surrounding area. North is at top. The Dome is in Greenwich, London, UK, on the south bank of the River Thames (flowing left to right through the image). Built for the millennium celebrations in 2000, the Dome is 365 metres in diameter, with the canopy rising to a height of 50 metres. Other landmarks seen in this image include the Canary Wharf skyscrapers (centre left) and the ExCel Exhibition Centre (top right, white) on the Royal Victoria Docks. Other docks are also seen at lower left. Image taken by the Ikonos satellite on 4 November 2000.
