He succeeded inemptying the magazine of his rapid-firer with accurate aim,but while turning to encircle his opponent he received a bulletin the head and dropped like a stone. Death was instan-taneous. The body was taken, with all honors, to a militaryhospital.

Rockwells death is a great loss to French military was stated at the War Office to-night that he was one ofthe most brilliant aviators seen in action since the outbreakof the war. Rockwell was twice mentioned in army dis-patches, and had been awarded the War Cross and a militarymedal. He was about to be promoted to the rank of lieu-tenant. Four
