Houses in Arnside Road, Liverpool, being sold for £1 each by the city council.


Houses in Arnside Road Edge Hill area of Liverpool which were compulsory purchased by the council under the Pathfinder Project for demolition and redevelopment of the area with new housing. Hit by the recession, redevelopment is no longer affordable and the houses have been offered for sale at one UK pound each ( £1 ) with conditions attached that they are brought up to standard and the owner resides in them for 5 years. The destruction of the communities in the area by the compulsory purchase of homes was referred to as social cleansing!
