Close up of a cluster of disc-shaped hairy common spangle galls attached to the underside of an oak leaf (Quercus robor) caused by gall wasp (Neuroterus quercusbaccarum). Each gall houses a single agamic wasp. The galls mature on the ground in winter and the insects leave in eary spring to lay their eggs in oak buds.
