They do well in all sections of the country and stand pre-eminently at the head of the list, succeeding in any sunny position in any kind of soil, but responding quickly to liberal treatment. For best results the beds should be spaded two feet deep and a liberal amount of well-decayed manure of any kind thoroughly incorporated, and at all times supplying water freely. For best effect plant in large masses of one color, setting out the plants 2 feet apart. To find the number of plants required for any bed from 3 to 20 feet in diameter see planting table on page 119. All have green foliage unless otherwise specified. Cannas of Recent Introduction. We secure for trial all promising new varieties of Cannas that are offered by European specialists, and very few of those tried out the past season were of sufficient merit to displace the varieties which we offered in 1915, consequently the "Sets" offered this year are com- posed largely of the same sorts as last year, with such omissions and additions as the season's trials showed desirable. We particularly rec- ommend the five varieties which originated with us for their vigorous, healthy constitutions and free-flowering habits and offer them as The Dreer Set of /~^ New Cannas of 1915 and 1916. V Eureka. During the past season this variety again proved itself the very best white for all purposes. It is of robust constitution, growing four feet high, forming sturdy, shapely plants very quickly.
