Nashville, Tenn., Nov. 5.—Whilethere have been rumors in circulationin East Tennessee, during the last twodays, that a mob intends to attack thebranch prison at Tracy City, it tothought there is little foundation forthem. There are 620 convicts at theseprisons, and extra guards have beenplaced on duty at each of them. Several heavy boxes, supposed to con-tain arms, have been sent by expressfrom th* state armory to the officials ofthe prisons. Gov. Buchanan has or-dered the state superintendent of pris-ons to take vigorous action. It to cer-tain that a mob would not now move onTracy City and Inman prisons unlessthey were determined to do or Buchanan, in an interview, couldnot say whether the leadersof the mob,if arrested, could be convicted in Ander-son county.
