Ray Charles Robinson was born in Albany Georgia on the 23rd He was not born blind but lost his eyesight due to glaucoma at seven. In his early days he modelled himself on Nat King Cole, He played the night clubs in Seattle and became friendly with Quincy ascent took off in 1955 when he recorded 'I Got A Woman', a song regarded as the first 'soul' record. Then the hits just followed one another, 'Hit The Road Jack''I Cant Stop Loving You' the Beatles 'Eleanor Rigby' and 'Yesterday' & his rendition of 'America The Beautiful'. During a career of 58 yrs he has starred on more than 250 albums. He has won every award in music and won every award in the music industry. Was the first singer to sing at the Coliseum in Rome. He passed away on 10th june 2004 in Beverly Hills.
