Completely cool, blown bottle (vial) in the shape of a date, slightly curved in shape. The surface is covered with a wrinkle pattern that accurately reflects the appearance of a mature date. The color and dimensions are also realistic. The earliest datella bottle was excavated in Trier in a Claudic tomb context (42-45). Furthermore, date vials are known from Pompeii and Herculaneum (before 79).
