Ifthe entire limb is carefully covered with a dry bandage, as far asthe seat of fracture, considerable traction on the foot-board can beexercised for weeks, without the bandages slipping. If there is somestarch or flour at hand, the fastening can be made more secure by beingsmeared with either of these materials. For the elastic extension either the india-rubber rings, whichare commonly sold, are used, or in default of these, pieces of india-.
