Mill Road First World War Cemetery, Commonwealth War Graves Commission, Somme, France

Mill Hill cemetery was started in the Spring of 1917 on a hill that was part of the German front line on 1 July 1916,part of the Schwaben redoubt. It contains 1,300 burials of Ulstermen from the 36th division as well as men from the 18th and 39th Divisions. Many of the gravestones are laid flat because of the many tunnels underneath the ground.
