Blackfriars Bridge, solar panelling, London, UK. This bridge and the adjacent train station underwent rebuilding from 2009, with the solar panels on the new roof becoming operational in January 2014. As of 2014, it is the world's largest solar bridge, spanning the River Thames as part of platforms at Blackfriars train station. The roof contains 4400 photovoltaic panels, producing electricity from the energy in sunlight and providing a large proportion of the station's energy needs. This view is of the east side of the bridge, looking towards the river's north bank. Photographed in May 2013.
