Donjon du Chateau Vincennes


The view taken in 1828, shows the Donjon du Chateau Vincennes which is the loftiest tower of the chateau. It was constructed by Philipe de Valois. The park was enclosed by Phillipe Auguste for animals sent by the King of England. It was also a state prison and ordnance depot. A gallery as made by Mary de Medicis queen of Louis XIII. Chapel contains an expiatory monument to Duc d’Enghien. The image was drawn by J Nash under the direction of A Pugin and engraved by Lewis
