In Chinese mythology, Hsi Wang Mu is often called the Golden Mother of the Tortoise.

In Chinese mythology, Hsi Wang Mu (also spelled Xi Wang Mu and in Japan Seiobo) is often called the Golden Mother of the Tortoise. She was formed of the pure quintessence of the Western Air, in the legendary continent of Shen Chou. She had nine sons and twenty-four daughters. Hsi Wang Mu's palace is situated in the high mountains of the snowy K'un-lun (also Kunlun). In Daoism, she is the Queen Mother of the West.
