Lone Pine, California - The Alabama Gates on the Los Angeles Aqueduct. Angry that construction of the aqueduct had removed water necessary for farming from the Owens Valley, local ranchers seized the Alabama Gates in 1924, dynamited part of the aqueduct, and diverted the flow of water back into their valley.
