Tramline Workers, Stafford Road Locomotive Works, Wolverhampton, 1903. Workers laying the tramlines to Bushbury in Stafford

Tramline Workers, Stafford Road Locomotive Works, Wolverhampton, 1903. Workers laying the tramlines to Bushbury in Stafford Road. This section of the road ran between the high walls of the Great Western Railway (GWR) works, which were on both sides of it. Part of the footbridge which connected the two parts of the works can be seen above the gentleman on the left. The gentleman in the centre foreground with the bowler hat may have been a figure of authority. The image also depicts the fact that much of the tramway was laid down by hand.
