A senseof guilt and personal unworthiness fol-lowed this conviction, and Olin endedby becoming a hearty believer. Having entered the Methodist Episco-pal Church, he felt that he had a call topreach, and in 1824 he joined the itiner-acy, and was stationed at the beginning he showed himselfto be a power in the pulpit. A shortperiod of activity was followed by a veryserious return of lung trouble, which ledto his being placed on the supernumer-ary list. Finally he accepted the post ofprofessor of belles-lettres \vl Franklin Col-lege, situated at Athens, in Georgia, aposition which he held for four year
