Emergency Tower for visitor rescue in Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, Sonoran Desert, Puerto Blanco Drive, south-central Arizona, USA

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument is a remote park along the international border with Mexico. The back-country roads take several hours to drive and traverse areas of extreme desert that have the added dangers of illegal immigration and smuggling. To combat these dangers, the National Park Service has installed at least 27 emergency towers. All a visitor has to do is press the red button and help will be immediately on the way and should arrive in half an hour. These towers are solar powered and the instructions are written in three languages: English, Spanish and Native American.
