The Boot Issue room in Bldg. 1917 houses thousands of pairs of steel-toed boots for feet of most sizes, even up to a 17 Wide, at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. Airmen going into career fields that pose foot hazards are issued steel-toed boots in basic training, but if the boots don't fit correctly, they are able to exchange them for a proper-fitting boot at Sheppard. The operation also hands out boots to Soldiers attending civil engineering courses at Sheppard as well as international students attending training here.
