This is the best crop harvested since 1915* During the sixteen yearsof station records wheat and barley yields have been exceeded by the crops of1915, 1909 and 1907, and oats by the crop of 1915 only. The past week has been spent almost entirely in threshing wheat, oats,barley, flax and millet varieties for the Cereal Office. Wheat variety yieldsranged from bushels for the best durum to for the lowest 20 durum varieties tested in the larger plats, six of the highest wereKubanka selections made at this station. Marquis and Eedsask were the bestcommon wheats, each averaging bushels. Kota was third with 31*0 bushels. Winter wheat planted in standing corn was the best ever harvestedhere, the best variety averaging 44 bushels. Where planted on fallow thecrop was almost entirely lost during the Page k. Dickinson, continued: Threshing on farms in the locality is just started. Yields of thebest fields reported range from 22 to 25 bushels. The quality of the wheatis not as high ae it has been during the recent dry years. Some of the fieldscontain considerable yellow berry, the worst samples having as much as ko percent. None of the wheat at the local elevators has graded Dark Northern. GARDEN CITY! The past week has been hot and dry. Milo on most of the plats isbeginning to ripen. Most of the kafir is in full head. Corn is firing badly,especially on plat A of the M. C. series. The cowpeas were put up for hay during the week. The average yieldfor the eleven plats was 1^2k pounds to the acre. Blackeye was the varietygrown this year. Several of the fallow plats were double disced this week. The first planting of winter wheat, in the date of seeding test, wasmade on the twenty-first.
