Tooth of a Sperm Whale.


Tooth of a dead Sperm Whale (Physeter macrocephalus) washed up on Balmedie Beach near Aberdeen. The tooth is approx 4 inches high and 2 inches in diameter. The whale was 30 feet (10 metres) in length and weighed approximately 25 tons. The teeth are also known as whale ivory.
