The 165th Airlift Wing unveiled a new state-of-the-art operations facility in a ribbon-cutting ceremony held June 14 at the Savannah Air National Guard Base. Maj. Gen. Joe Jarrard, Adjutant General, Georgia Department of Defense, Maj. Gen. Jesse Simmons, Assistant Adjutant General, Air - Georgia National Guard, and Col. Jim Marren, 165th Airlift Wing, all spoke of how the new facility will benefit missions both stateside and abroad, and better allow the wing to respond to federal, state, and local missions when called upon. The new nine million dollar facility will better accommodate the Wing'


The 165th Airlift Wing unveiled a new state-of-the-art operations facility in a ribbon-cutting ceremony held June 14 at the Savannah Air National Guard Base. Maj. Gen. Joe Jarrard, Adjutant General, Georgia Department of Defense, Maj. Gen. Jesse Simmons, Assistant Adjutant General, Air - Georgia National Guard, and Col. Jim Marren, 165th Airlift Wing, all spoke of how the new facility will benefit missions both stateside and abroad, and better allow the wing to respond to federal, state, and local missions when called upon. The new nine million dollar facility will better accommodate the Wing's most recent ramp renovations which can accommodate additional types of military aircraft such as the C-17. The facility will be home to the 165th Operations Group, the 165th Operations Support Squadron, and the 158th Airlift Squadron.
