A display of hand-crafted New Zealand Blue Pearl earrings with gold-plated surrounds and a blue pearl shell on sale at the Blue Pearl Gallery in a small picturesque historic town of Akaroa, and Canterbury’s oldest town. It is an old French settlement first discovered by French settlers in1840 on the Banks Peninsula, southeast of Christchurch of New Zealand. The New Zealand Blue Peal is created by a sea creature, the New Zealand paua (Abalone) a marine sea snail Haliotis iris found in the nearby Akoroa bay
