Building construction. Close-up detail of the oldest extant building (circa. 1930) Karanambu Ranch. Guyana. Timber, wattle, Wood

Building construction. The oldest extant building (circa. 1930) Karanambu Ranch. Guyana. Timber, wattle, clay infill and the original roof would have been local tree frond thatch. Heavy rainfalls have caused erosion of top layers to reveal support timbers and necessitated subsequent re-furbishment from time to time. Timbers were originally held together using rawhide strips, some still exist. Iron nails are of more recent introduction.
