The Hermannsburg Societys medical missions are intheir incipiency, but a brief medical course is alwaysgiven to its probationers. In its African field no specialnecessity for medical work appears. In 1873 came the Royal MedicalCollege with forty^one students, a hospital for eightypatients, three dispensaries, fourteen native Christianwomen in training as nurses and ten thousand treat-ments annually.
