Mauritshuis Facade, Den Haag, The Netherlands. The 17th century Dutch classicist building was named after the Dutch man who had it built, Count Johan Maurits of Nassau-Siegen between 1636 and 1644 whilst he was govenor of the Dutch colony in Brazil. The architects were the best of the day : Jacob van Campen and his assistant Pieter Post. The building has housed it's world famous collection of Dutch Golden Age art for nearly 200 years, including masterpieces by Vermeer, rembrandt, Jan Steen and Frans Hals.
