Ain Dara, Afrin, Syria : Syrian women walk among the ruins of the Hittite temple of Ain Dara 67 km northwest of Aleppo. Established at the beginning of the first millennium BC, it was probably dedicated to Ishtar, goddess of fertility. In January 2018, it was significantly damaged by Turkish Air Force jets in the course of their Afrin offensive. Reports indicate that at least 60% percent of the structure was reduced to rubble.
