NAVAL BASE SAN DIEGO (June 8, 2018) Navy Band Southwest plays during a change of command ceremony on board amphibious assault ship USS America (LHA 6). At the ceremony, Capt. Daniel A. Nowicki relieved Capt. Joseph R. Olson as the commanding officer. America is moored at its homeport of Naval Base San Diego and is conducting a planned maintenance availability in preparation for the ship’s next tour of duty.
