Lighthouse of Alexandria, Pharos (title on object), The Eight Wonders of the World (series title), The Lighthouse of the City of Alexandria. As far as we know, the first lighthouse ever built. This was done on the orders of the first Hellenistic king of Egypt Ptolemy II. The tower was built between 297 and 283 BC. built and served for almost 1500 years for the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines and Arabs.
