Half of a large cargo vessel sits on a pile of boulders.; Congo River, Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The first successfull descent of the lower Congo River which also measured the deepest known spot of any river in the world. Kayaker Scott Feindel marvels at half of a large cargo vessel sitting high and dry on a pile of boulders on a Congo Riverbank. The ship was swept downstream during high water, broken in half and deposited on the rocks. The Congo River regularly runs at more than three million cubic feet per second during the rainy season and contains the largest whitewater rapids in the world.
