Early morning revealed a wholly unexpected condition ofthe bay which we had entered. Instead of a level surface ofglassy water we looked out upon a boulder strewn area acresin extent with only shallow pools of water here and clung to the larger rocks or grew in masses on thesand, and crabs scurried to cover beneath rocks or within themasses of seaweed.
