A beautiful café-restaurant in Megalo ("Big") Papingo village, high up in Zagori region, Ioannina prefecture, Epirus, Greece

Although Megalo ("Big") Papigo village is quite remote, hidden in the mountainous region of Zagori, the visitor has many options when it comes to accommodation and food. One of the best taverns in Papigo is "Astraka", that has taken its name from the mountain (2436 m) besides the village, famous for its "towers" (one of them you can see in the background). In "Astraka" restaurant you can taste the famous pies of Mrs. Despoina, traditional Greek cuisine, by Mr. Babis, her husband, and more modern cuisine by Stavros, their son. The other son, Stergios, will "entertain" you, he's born a "comedian"!
