Kastraki village in the "shadow" of the rocks of Meteora. Trikala, Greece


A town, Kalampaka, and a village have the privilege to live in the shadow of Meteora. The picturesque village, is Kastraki, the one in the photo. You can see some beautiful traditional old houses, but also traditional "lifestyle", and of course, enjoy the feeling of protection that the "holy" rocks are offering . Kastraki, in greek means "small castle", and it took its name from a byzantine castle. Some, very few, ruins of this castle are still visible today. It was a small rural village, but since the monasteries of Meteora opened their gates to the public, it has become a popular resort, offering everything from nice guesthouses to great greek taverns.
