It was under theinfluence of these views that the Superior of St. Sul-pice. Father de Oourson, decided upon suppressing College, and stopping the exercise of the exter-nal ministry.^ The College was actually closed in 1852,and, through an understanding with the Jesuit Fathers,the vacancy was filled at once by the founding of LoyolaCollege. Business men, bankers, doctors, lawyers, judges,writers, engineers, governors, and statesmen, many ofthem indeed are gone, but their survivors still cherishfor their Alma Mater a deep interest, a tender love, asort of college patriotism.
