Scarborough has two bays separated by Scarborough castle which was once a roman signalling station. It is Englands oldest holiday resort. In 1660 Dr Wittee of Scarborough recommended sea bathing which brought people to the resort but it was the Victorians that made the town the Queen of watering places and built the present spa.
