Male dress from the early 15th century, from a playing card in the Royal Library in Stuttgart. He wears a large hat and a tunic with elaborate collar and cuffs. He clutches a bird in his left hand. Dr. Jakob Heinrich von Hefner-Alteneck (1811-1903) was a German archeologist, art historian and illustrator. He was director of the Bavarian National Museum from 1868 until 1886.
