On 12th October 2007 the Rio Gorgos burst its banks after days of exceptionally heavy rain. This scene is on the Playa Arenal the day after the floods, and it shows the beach with wrecked boats, branches and rubbish, washed out to sea in the river floodwater, blown back onto the beach. The beach umbrellas are still up because in October it is still warm enough to use the beach. Two children are playing on the cleaner sand in the foreground. Beyond are some people looking at the rubbish and devastation. The tops of the pine trees have been blown off in high wind.
