The medieval wooden Henkersteg (Hangman's Bridge) and pedestrian walkway is a roof-titled bridge reconstructed in 1954. The original was built in 1457 and later torn down. The Henkersteg spans the river Pegnitz that flows through the middle of the city of Nuremberg in Bavaria, Germany. The Henkerhaus (tower) was the executioner’s residence in medieval times. It is now a museum displaying the executioner’s tools.
